Education

Our Program

Little Oak Preschool offers a full-time developmental curriculum to all children 6 weeks to 6 years of age. This school was opened to provide young children, and their parents, with the best possible environment for early childhood development. We believe that, through our play-based program, children build a lasting foundation for later academic experiences.

Our Philosophy

We believe in providing each child with a variety of experiences and opportunities to learn, create and discover. Our program is socially and emotionally strong, thus providing our children with a healthy feeling of self-esteem and initiative. We encourage exploration, imagination, creativity, problem-solving, and appreciation for uniqueness and differences in personalities, abilities, and appearances. We have designed our program to be the essential base for later cognitive learning. We feel that with our curriculum, as well as our caring and highly qualified staff, we provide our children with the healthy environment needed for optimal growth and discovery.

Our Goals

  • To motivate interest in learning by encouraging new experiences
  • To help our children grow in all areas: emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially
  • To create a bond between home and school for each child
  • To enhance and support the development of friendships between a child’s peers

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is child-centered, providing experiences to enhance a child’s natural development. Each week our children explore a new theme in the areas of art, music, science, cooking, nutrition, socialization, critical thinking, community, multicultural awareness, and language arts skills. Additionally, our 3’s and Pre-K classrooms visit our Library and STEAM classroom each week.

Our Kindergarten Readiness Program is implemented in our Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and was created to better prepare our students for their entry into kindergarten. Our Pre-K students experience many different areas of social interaction, group orientation and academic preparation through age-specific lesson plans.
